Sissonville, W.Va. – The King University women's golf team headed to the UC Invitational for a midweek invite, hosted by Charleston (W.Va.). The women got off to a great start, with the opening round of Celia Mendez shooting one over through 18 and finishing the round in third place with back-to-back birdies to end the first round.
Mendez started the second round how she finished the first, with back-to-back birdies on the opening two holes. She had a rougher back nine, however, shooting two double bogeys and pushing her second-round 18 to a 73. She finished the day three over in fourth place overall.
Carolina Calzada struggled through the first round but came through the second round and paced three other golfers, finishing 24 over and tying for 39th.
Makenna Debord and Rebecca Baker also represented King, finishing the day in 50th and 62nd place, respectively.
