Catawba Valley Health System (CVHS) has announced the addition of DeSantis Family Practice in Hickory effective July 6. Now named DeSantis Family Medicine of Catawba Valley, the practice becomes the 19th primary care practice within the health system’s Catawba Valley Medical Group (CVMG).
“Primary care is a great need for the people of our region,” said Dennis Johnson, president and CEO of CVHS. “Furthering our mission to expand CVHS’ access to primary care is a key piece of our mission to add quality services and be a greater support system to people in Catawba and surrounding counties. The DeSantis practice enjoys an outstanding reputation, and we are very fortunate to welcome them to our organization.”
Mariane Carna, president of Catawba Valley Medical Group, also emphasized the importance of adding this practice, saying, “Catawba Valley Health System has recognized expansion of our primary care footprint as a key area for growth in Catawba County and beyond. This addition reflects our commitment to expanding access to high-quality care for the communities we serve. The DeSantis practice has consistently exhibited that same commitment.”
The practice features four providers – Michael DeSantis, MD, Joel Kunze, PA-C, Morgan Gibbons, PA-C, and Claire Cromer, PA-C. The practice also earned a Level II designation as a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), which is a model of care that puts patients at the forefront. PCMHs build better relationships between people and their clinical care teams. Research shows that they improve quality, the patient experience, and staff satisfaction while reducing health care costs.
The practice is located at 10 Third Ave NE, Suite 500 Hickory, NC 28601. Hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day. More information can be found at CatawbaValleyHealth.org/DeSantis.
Catawba Valley Health System now features 30 total primary care and specialty care practices in Catawba, Alexander, and Caldwell counties.
