Sandwich-eating contest to benefit Special Olympics

HICKORY N.C. — The Hick ory Police Department and the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office will square off in a barbecue sand wich eating contest at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit to benefit Special Olympics.

Aggressive eaters from each department will go head-to-head to see who can cram down the most barbecue sandwiches in 10 minutes.

The money raised will benefit Special Olympics North Carolina as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run initiative.

The contest is sched uled for Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. Dickey’s is at 1036 Lenoir-Rhyne Blvd. SE.

Dickey’s will be hold ing a raffle and giving a percentage of its sales to Special Olympics North Carolina as part of the event. The public is invited to attend.
